Tailgating

Tailgating and cheering on the Cats during home football games are an important part of the vibrant WCU student experience.  Please be familiar with the appropriate policies and regulations in order to make tailgating a safe and spirited experience for all.

Tailgating is allowed in a variety of parking areas across campus.  Be sure to note which areas require special permits.

  • Alcohol Free: Walker A, Walker Hall and Scott Hall
  • Alcohol Allowed: HFR Administration Building, Bardo Fine and Performing Arts, Camp Lab, Ramsey, Creek, Belk Building, Stadium and Field House (Catamount Club permit required)
  • Alcohol Allowed, Students: Field House (Department of Campus Activities permit required)
  • Alcohol Allowed, Visiting Fans: Baseball lots and other locations as needed

2017 Catamount Football Schedule

Current students and WCU employees may obtain one non-transferable permit for a space in the alcohol allowed student tailgating area. There is no charge for tailgating permits. The individual who will be responsible for the tailgating area should complete the form in person during the indicated dates below. Depending upon available space, tailgating permits are available for single games and for the entire season. 

All tailgating activities must be contained within the permitted tailgating area. Tailgating permit holders may be held responsible for the behavior of guests in the permitted area. Only one vehicle will be allowed to park in each permitted alcohol permissible student tailgating area. Certain types of vehicles are prohibited by the university's tailgating policy. Permits must be displayed in vehicles throughout the tailgating time period. Tailgating permits may be forfeited for cause at any time. 

 First Home Game: September 9, 2017, vs Davidson

Registration for single-game (first game only) and season permits will open Monday, August 28, at 9:00am for RSOs (Recognized Student Organizations) only. All other current WCU students and current WCU faculty/staff may obtain a permit beginning at 9:00am on Wednesday, August 30. Applications should be filled out in person at the Guest Services Desk on the 2nd floor of the A.K. Hinds University Center. Tailgating registration will close when all spots are full or by 4:00pm on Thursday, September 7.

All Other Home Games

Pending available spaces, single-game permits may be applied for at the Guest Services Desk the Monday before each home game at 9:00am. Registration will close the Thursday before the home game at 4:00pm. Single-game permits can only be obtained one week in advance of each home game. Pending available spaces, season permits can be obtained before the first home game and then again beginning September 11 at 9:00am.

ReCOGNIZED student organizations

Recognized Student Organizations may sign up for a tailgating spot beginning Monday, August 28, at 9:00am.
